October 18, 2010 -

Nancy Sousa and the Town Line Laundromat in Rocky Hill, Connecticut are celebrating “Breast Cancer Awareness” month. Nancy Sousa is a breast cancer survivor and is also just opened the Town Line Laundromat. Nancy has been battled cancer since 1994 and takes this battle very personally.

Nancy was working for corporate America and was part of the downsizing fall out. Nancy wanted to control her own destiny and after a lot of research, she decided upon Laundromats as the vehicle to reach her goal of financial independence. Nancy meet with several companies and chose HK Laundry Equipment to equip her Laundromat. HK worked closely with Nancy and her contractors to make sure everyone was on the same page, to coordinate the installation of the equipment and to assist Nancy with learning the management of operating a Laundromat.

HK Laundry provided the most energy efficient Laundromat equipment for the Town Line Laundromat. Huebsch Galaxy 600 High Speed Extract washers provides water and sewer savings with the ability for the customer to purchase an Extra Wash and or and Extra Rinse to “supersize” their wash. The high speed extract removes 15% more water from the clothes and this means the dryers will require 15% less gas to dry the clothes. Less gas usage means more profit and a greater return on investment. Dryer are designed with “axial airflow” to reduce the amount of gas required to dry the linen. The Town Line Laundromat also uses a “condensing” water heater technology to save additional gas. All of these features earn the Town Line Laundromat the “Earth Friendly” designation.

Nancy Sousa combined a Grand Opening celebration with Breast Cancer Awareness fund raiser. On October 17th the Town Line Laundromat celebrated with a live band, plenty of food & drinks. Over 75 people attended the Grand Opening celebration of the Town Line Laundromat. Nancy Sousa donated several gifts including 2 - 32” plasma TVs and food processors to be raffled off with the proceeds to support the local chapter of Breast Cancer. Nancy also is selling Pink laundry bags for $6.50 with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to breast cancer awareness.

During the final phase of her Laundromat construction, Nancy was diagnosis again with cancer. This time the cancer has spread to her bones where she needs to have a maintenance treatment of chemotherapy on a regular basis. Nancy in her in-diminishable spirit, vowed not to let this setback deter her from her goal of opening her Laundromat and creating a successful business. Nancy celebrated her grand opening (san hair) by belting out a bunch of songs with the band. Nancy is a professional singer who regularly sings in local venues with a preference to rhythm and blue music. Nancy and her mother (Mary Ann) operate the Town Line Laundromat from 7am to 9pm, seven days a week.
